My wife is Brazilian and when I visited her home town in Brazil I was pleasantly surprised that the most popular music, forro, utilized the piano accordion as one of the main instruments. It’s a kind of dance music that has a fairly set rhythm but one I found worked amazingly well. Some forro groups are extremely well-liked and whilst there a touring band played in the town’s local festival plus it seemed the entire town was there to view them, showing how well-liked this music is.
