The Color of Diamonds
August 16th, 2010 | by admin |The diamonds from D to F inclusive are referred to as colorless, and those from G to J are referred toknown as near-colorless. However, this is not something to be too worried about as other than jewelers, people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference betwen a D diamond on the one hand and a J diamond on the other – the differences are very subtle indeed. Even jewelers can only judge the color by comparing with a chart, and even then under specific conditions (i.e. face down on a white card). So if you are to buy even a J diamond, know that to all intents and purposes, its colorless.
If you’re worried about the diamond in your engagement rings or bridal sets
looking too yellow, one solution is to make sure to put it in a yellow gold setting (rather than white gold or platinum), as it’ll look whiter against the yellow.
