Jays Avoid Putting Stress on Brand New Catcher.
August 17th, 2010 | by admin |What do you figure the prospects are in Major League baseball when you are four for five in your first ever big league game? Then add two dingers amongst those four hits. Days like that may not come enough for the fans and the Jays new catcher J. P. Arencibia.
Arencibia has a special talent and the Jays skipper Cito Gaston recognizes that. He also is aware of his possible future and understands that to arrive at that potential, the young catcher must recognize that there is a learning curve.
When talking about Arencibia’s future playing time, Gaston said he wanted to back the kid off for a while so he doesn’t worry too much.
Gaston would like to reduce the pressure on Arencibia so the kid can just sit back and pick the brains of experienced catchers like John Buck and Jose Molina.
Imagine sailing your own luxury yacht.
